I have no idea why, but after making a couple dozen small cookies I decided to divide the rest of the batter into 2 giant cookies. They were just as soft and chewy as the little ones! No crunchy, dried out edges. Just soft, chewy, buttery sugar cookie goodness! My kids went bonkers over these!

I am definitely making a batch using the red and green M&M’s for my Christmas cookie tray this year! These are simply irresistible!

Did you use salted or unsalted butter?
    Thanks!:)

These look amazing, so I decided to make a batch but they look NOTHING like yours and never really “melted” and flattened out. I reread the recipe and I did everything right…the only thing that I questioned was the THREE oz of cream cheese. I’m wondering now if that was a typo and it was supposed to be a whole block of cream cheese (8oz). Were the directions correct and I only needed 3oz? They taste extremely sweet so I’m wondering if it needed the whole block of cream cheese to cut the sweetness.

    • Stephanie says:

Hi Sara! 3 oz of cream cheese is correct – the cookies are sweet, but they are sugar cookies so they’re meant to be that way :) As far as the cookies not flattening out, that is completely MY fault! I have made this recipe many times and sometimes I make it using melted butter (which is what I did when I took the photos). The melted butter makes a flatter cookie. Softened butter will give you a puffier cookie which is that way I wrote it in the recipe. I need to edit the recipe and make a note of this. I’m sorry for the confusion. I hope you’ll give these another try with the melted butter to get the cookie you were hoping for.

  10. I made a modified version of these! Will be posting the recipe very soon, thank you! :)
